Eng. Valerian is the co-founder and CEO of STICLab, a Tanzanian Makerspace that responds to the community problems through Innovation in Technology, Engineering and Science. He is an innovation guru and tech enthusiast, who believes in Open Source and Open Access initiatives as the key towards realizing African based solutions to the community arising issues as well as fuelling the level of education standards in the African continent.

Valerian is the designer and an engineer behind an open source motor board controller, the sangaboard, which he designed under the Open Lab Instrumentation project, a joint project between STICLab, University of Bath (Visiting Industrial Fellow) and University of Cambridge (Visiting Researcher).

Valerian is the Steering Committee member of Africa Open Science and Hardware Community and was the Lead Local Organizer of the AfricaOSH 2019 Summit in Dar es Salaam – Tanzania, hosted by STICLab.

Being part of the Global Bio Summit 2.0 and being in the Global Bio Community Family, Valerian has been inspired to focus into starting the first Bio Lab in Tanzania, that will respond to the tech, biology and engineering gap existing in the Tanzanian community with a dedication of building sustainable solutions using local available resources and tech.
