Maqbool is a biotechnologist, biohacker, community builder, and open science enthusiast. He became the first in his family to graduate from college after studying biotechnology at International Islamic University Islamabad, Pakistan. His research is engrossed on open-source microfluidics and development of diagnostic systems using interdisciplinary tactics based on synthetic and molecular biotechnology.
Maqbool Co-Founded Codon Corps, a community lab in Islamabad, Pakistan. He along with his outstanding peers are immersed in wide range biohackathons, bioinspired automation, bioprinting, nanoscale projects, DIY synthetic biology, while keeping genome editing and genetic designs as its
center. The lab also organizes several citizen science events on a regular basis.
