Board of Directors & Community Manager/In Situ DIY Lab (Lima, Peru)

I am a Senior Biology Student from Peru with great passion for Biological Engineering. One of my main life goals is to leave behind a mark by searching for solutions to unsolved issues that affect people worldwide. After merging this desire with my fascination with the functioning of microorganisms, the genetic networks within them, and their engineering, Synthetic Biology seemed like the right path to choose. I am specifically interested in the development of synthetic viruses for gene therapy and biological circuit engineering to fight infectious diseases and cancer. Also, I am a research assistant at the Single-Molecule Biophysics laboratory at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, where I carry out Synthetic Biology related research. The other half of my heart belongs to scientific popularization and community biology. Therefore, I am part of In Situ DIY Lab as a member of the board of directors and as the community manager. We have the goal of spreading scientific knowledge in Peru by developing low cost methods and hardware to improve Biology education in our country.
