Atila is a senior Biology Peruvian student. He craves his line of research to be related to the search of extremophile organisms, as well as the understanding of their biochemical mechanisms so that, through Biotechnology these mechanisms can be applied. He’s one of the National Points of Contact in Peru of Space Generation Advisory Council. His team won the Caltech Space Challenge 2019, designing a mission to probe Enceladus, one of the moons of Saturn for the presence of life and habitability conditions.
He was the first intern at the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS), working with extremophile organisms and learning how to perform research on Mars analogs. During the winter of 2019, he got the opportunity to work as Assistant Director at the MDRS, managing the campus program, training and supporting incoming and participating researchers and students. In addition, he oversees the Internship Program and the Entrepreneurship Group.
