Associate Professor/ Yachay Tech University (Urcuqui, Ecuador))
Passionate scientist convinced that global challenges will be solved only by the synergistic collaboration between scientists, entrepreneurs, bio enthusiasts and policy members at national, regional and international scales to understand, improve and optimize biologically inspired strategies. I recently joined Yachay Tech University, the first research-intensive university in Ecuador, to open new paths for biological engineering in Ecuador, the smallest megadiverse country in the world. I am focused on creating new paradigms and replacing inefficient technologies with smarter and more sustainable microbial factories, able to efficiently produce useful chemicals and reducing the impact of unsustainable production technologies on the environment and on human health. I have broad scientific interests and commitment to improving STEM education and reducing the biotechnological gap in developing countries.
