MFA Candidate in Studio Art, SUNY (Buffalo, USA)
I’m Felipe, a Brazilian bioartist who decided to adventure around the world. My journey began when I finished my Ph.D. in Ecology and Conservation, at the Universidade Federal do Paraná. I then decided to explore the visual aspects I had included in my research, beyond the purely scientific perspective. Currently, I’m doing an M.F.A. in Studio Art at the State University of New York (Buffalo), working at the intersection between biology and art. Being a scientist-artist, enables me to explore different forms of life, using different methods. However, all of my work involves aspects of my own identity. I have had the opportunity to present my work at School of Visual Arts (New York), Northeastern Center for the Arts (Boston), Museu do Design e da Moda (Lisbon), and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (Mexico City), as well as had citations published in important magazines such as National Geographic and Citylab.
