Katia Zolotovsky


MIT SynBio Postdoctoral Research Associate

Katia is an architect, synthetic biologist, and a postdoctoral researcher at the Weiss Lab for Synthetic Biology at MIT. Katia develops practical means for creative design with engineered living materials by combining methods from synthetic biology, material science, and digital fabrication. She received her Ph.D. in Design and Computation from MIT in 2017, and she holds a B.Arch. in Architecture and a B.A. in Biology. In addition to her research, Katia teaches Biodesign workshops at the NuVu School for Innovation in Cambridge, MA. She uses imaginative themes to frame two-week long workshops in the format of architectural studio.
