Nathalia Flórez-Zapata

Profesor, Universidad EIA (Medellín, Colombia)

I have a PhD in Biotechnology, and now I am an enthusiastic teacher and researcher interested in bioinformatics, biotechnology, health and environmental microbiology, working in Medellin, Colombia. I have skills in omics data analysis, molecular biology and microbiology. I am passionate about science communication activities. I want to participate in a community lab project in which we overcome the economic barriers for science of my country and we can democratize biotechnology. I think that collaborative research could allow communities in Colombia not only to participate in solutions to the problems of their territory, or to make appropriate use of biodiversity; but also, understand the risks that exist around science and be able to participate in biotech ethics public discussions.
