Nicole Zhao is a multidisciplinary artist interested in finding thoughtful ways of engaging with ourselves, each other, and the landscape. She works with different artistic mediums to explore the changing role and methods of communication and the human experience, especially in light of technological advancements.
She currently works in nature education in the New England area, exploring interesting ways of approaching ecosystem restoration and landcape architecture that chall2enge conventional notions of ecological value. She is working on a project exploring the artistic potential of invasive species in the New England area in papermaking and natural dyeing processes. She is also a sound artist who creates soundscape compositions and accoustic ecology.
She is often found foraging for mushrooms in the forest, practicing theater vocal exercises by Lake Waban, or planning the layout for her studio-on-wheels adventure van.
