Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Playing with bacteria since 1991. Researcher, artist, educator, combining biology and creative technologies. I have lead the BioHack Academy at Waag's Open Wetlab, and set up Amsterdam Biolabs organizing meetups for the local bio community. I have a background in Interdisciplinary Sciences, majoring in Biology at the University of Amsterdam, and Media Technology, at the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science, where I graduated on remotely controlled learning environments for biology. Through a series of often collaborative projects I have pursued various fascinations, including autonomous drawing robots, a film about mash-ups and authenticity, and bio-digital games ultilizing the unpredictability of growing living matter.
