Co-Founder, BioBabes (Newcastle, UK)
I have a masters degree in Advanced Architecture from the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IaaC) in Spain. I am a co-founder of the design and research collective BioBabes and currently I’m a PhD candidate at Newcastle University in the school of architecture where I’m also a design-led researcher working on the Thinking Soils project, a project exploring the design potentials of living materials which respond to physical forces in their environment.
As a biodesigner with a background in architecture, my research revolves around the problem of how to implement – instead of exploiting – natural systems in our technological environment. My approach to this reflection sits at the intersection of design and biological fabrication and is centred on the necessity to design and produce new hybrid assemblages that can contribute to the fostering of ‘relation of care’ with a living medium.
